The Class 456 two-car DC Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) was built by British Rail Engineering Limited York works around 1991 for third rail electrification suburban services. NSE 456007 operated services from London Bridge, Victoria and Charing Cross, terminating as far away as Tattenham Corner and Caterham. The Class 456 is often seen working in pairs or coupled with the Class 455/8 during peak hours.
